On December 9, 2025, for the first time in 45 years under Massachusetts Proposition 2½, and after five previous failed attempts dating back to 1991, Stoneham passed its first override. I could not be prouder of this community. We came together, listened to facts, reasoned with one another, engaged in civic debate, and voted to save our town. The positive effects of this decision will resonate for years, guiding Stoneham toward a future of progress, growth, and deeper community participation.
I also want to thank the readers of the Stoneham Civic Ledger. I began this blog in May, just after our failed spring override vote, and I am deeply grateful to everyone who has joined me on this journey. Writing these pieces has been a learning experience -Massachusetts town government and its numbers are not always easy to navigate, but I hope this work has helped make them more approachable. In just eight months, we’ve published 35 articles, reached 4,000+ unique readers, and logged more than 15,000 readings.
This is not the end. While I may take a short break for the holidays, I will continue working to inform our community, and perhaps beyond. Facts, knowledge, and information have always been the backbone of societal progress, and they will remain essential if we want to keep growing together as a town and as a society.
Well done, Stoneham.
